This half term is well underway with our “Ancient Egyptians” topic in Year Three.  Please come and look at our fantastic stories and posters about Ancient Egyptian gods, there’s lots of great work on display on the Year Three corridor.  Perhaps you could bring your mummies to look, daddies are welcome too!

On Tuesday 12th July,  in the last week of term, we are holding our Egyptian Day.  Full details of this will follow next week, but we wanted to give you the ‘heads up’  about it so you can start to think about your costume for the afternoon’s parade, dance and feast!

Welcome back everyone!

The Year 3 trip to Leiden will take place this Thursday! We are going to visit the Egyptology department of the Rijksmuseum in Leiden to see the exhibits.

This will kick start our learning for this term about the Ancient Egyptians. Everyone received a letter about the trip before the holidays but you can also access a copy of the letter below if you have misplaced your copy.

Year 3 Trip to Leiden

Children should come to school in uniform dressed appropriately for the weather. Everyone should bring a packed lunch, a snack and 2 drinks as we will spend the whole day in Leiden together!

Any questions, please just ask one of the Year 3 team.

Ms W-B ;-)

Today the children have in their book bags their CD and DVD of “TWIPLE WHAMMY”.

Don’t forget the “Gallery” on here.  You can decorate your CD and DVD by gently colouring on the white surface of the disc using felt-tipped marker pens ONLY!  If you’re really proud of your design you can email me a photo of it to r.chapman @ britams.nl – (but take out the spaces before and after the @ sign!)  We will upload the pictures of your designs onto our weblog!

As the week of the Year 3 show approaches, we are all working very hard to make sure our performance is tip top!

Please remember that all costumes must be brought in to school by Wednesday of this week and all props by tomorrow (Tuesday) so that the children can practise rehearsing with them.

Permission slips for the Year 3 trip to Texel in May should be returned by Friday of this week. If you have any questions, please come and speak to any member of the Year 3 team – we are happy to help! :-)

Home-learning will be given out tomorrow as our afternoon show rehearsal over-ran. However, the sheets are on the Year 3 home-learning page if you are very keen to get started!

Thank you!

Ms W-B ;-)

After all of the excitement of Book Week, you would not believe it possible that there is yet more excitement to come!

This week, Year 3 start our new topic: The Tropical Rainforest!

We will be learning about the climate and weather conditions in a tropical rainforest, why rainforests are important and what we can do to help save them from destruction. We will also be reading The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry and developing dance movements to accompany the story. In addition, we will look at the art work of Henri Rousseau to help us make a rainforest mural in our classrooms and we will learn different techniques for adding texture to our pictures.

Happy Learning! :-D Ms W-B x

This week is also Book Week and we have lots of fun events and competitions planned – perhaps some of you have already started taking pictures for the Extreme Reading competition or have given thought to which of your favourite characters you will dress up as on Friday!

For home-learning this week we would like everyone to practise their times tables and we though it’d be fun to play some online games to help. This website has lots and lots of games you can play to help you learn the times table that you are working on at the moment! Click on the link to have a go! :-P

Not just because it’s Saint Valentine’s day, but because the children are producing lovely work about our lovely topics.

Just an important reminder, on Friday the children brought home a letter about the preparations for the Year 3 Play – which still doesn’t have a name!
Please let your child’s class teacher know if you will be away on April 4th, 5th and 6th.

As well as the play preparations the Year 3 team are busy with their final designs and busy making their picture frames as part of the children’s Design Technology work.
